    Executive Chef Adam Tanner

 Executive Chef Adam Tanner joined CityGate Grille in 2008 and became its Executive Chef in 2016. Chef Adam’s mission is to make people happy through food. 


"I fell in love with cooking sitting at my great grandmother’s table,” he says. “She cooked professionally and for our very large family, and the passion and joy she brought to every meal made a huge impression on me.” 

Chef Adam believes in using the very best ingredients and letting them be the star. He also believes what makes CityGate Grille so great is the longevity of his amazing team in the kitchen. 


“It's always about the food and the team, never about me,” he says.


Chef Adam was trained at the Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago.

General Manager Alberto Vieyara eagerly brings his mix of upscale, urban-casual dining and local insight to serving guests at CityGate Grille.


Vieyara has successfully managed local establishments as well as those in Chicago's River North, Loop and Wicker Park neighborhoods for more than a decade.

Raised in the Western Suburbs, Vieyara studied business at the University of Iowa and continues to volunteer as a youth baseball coach since 2010.
